What is this bug and what do they do? This one was LARGE. Like the width of the brick it is resting on. Totally EWWW.

I'm not sure, but I think that is an extremely large stink bug.
I think it looks like a stink bug ANd there are some that look like that that like to live on tomato plants in season! Maybe you have one who found something good to eat while waiting for next tomato season! OR maybe it's looking for a Christmas tree to eat up!? OR maybe it's migrating south for the winter and had to eat lots for the big trip!?
