The fields are covered with these little crawfish homes.
Want a closer look?
One more look. Can you see anything down in that little hole? There is a crawfish (or two or three?) down in that hole. I would love to know how they make these little holes and why the crawfish crawl out of the ponds to begin with. Maybe they are overcrowded in the crawfish pond and want to live out in the 'country'.

We used to tie string to a stick and catch them in the holes. While some children are touring museums, we were catching crawfish with sticks in our yards.. Tragic isn't it.
We used to catch crawfish in the ditch. It was always such a great delight to us when we had enough to fill up the gumbo pot! By the way, I like the new look!
It's not just Cajun Country where one finds the crawfish condos. We have lots of them over our way too.
We used to tie bacon on a string and entice them out. Sometimes we'd use a jar or can and dip them out the ditch-- after we stalked them!!
