A Lovely Lady

Eunice....a lovely woman, whose husband loved her enough to name a little town in the middle of Louisiana after her.

This statue stands at the end of the main street in Eunice.

My family thinks she bears some resemblance to Mary Poppins...which always makes us feel like a "spoon full of sugar" and rather "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"!

you know, I've always thought that too!

all she needs is an umbrella to float off that pedestal.

Fly away Mary! Fly away!

Irony: Eunice Duson, city founder C. C. Duson's wife, was reputed to abhor the place which bears her name--I assume that was before the city was given her name. Some of the historians brought those facts up when the statue was first proposed several years ago, suggesting Eunice's snooty attitude toward this place should disqualify her for positive recognition.
